You Don’t Need a Label to Be Valid
​

Whether you’re:

  • Recently diagnosed

  • Exploring your identity

  • Or just noticing that “something feels different”
     

You’re allowed to understand your brain, your patterns, and your needs.
You’re allowed to take up space, even without a formal diagnosis.

Late or Self-Diagnosed? You’re Not Alone.
​

Many people spend decades masking - learning to “act normal” while feeling like something is off underneath.

​

This is especially common for:

  • Women and AFAB (assigned female at birth) people

  • People of colour

  • Those raised in high-demand or dismissive environments
     

You don’t need a professional to give you permission to explore your own experience.
And you’re not “faking it” if you resonate deeply.

Sensory Overload & Emotional Dysregulation
​

Neurodivergent folks often feel:

  • Too much (too loud, too sensitive, too emotional)

  • Or completely shut down
    ​

You might go from fine to flooded in moments. That’s not weakness.
That’s a nervous system asking for care, not criticism.

Try:

  • Noise-reduction or dim-light strategies

  • Soothing textures, warmth, or pressure

  • Breathwork and grounding to regulate

Advocating for Yourself — With or Without Diagnosis

You don’t need to prove your struggles to deserve accommodations.
You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis to start meeting your needs.

​

You are allowed to say:

  • “I work best with clear instructions.”

  • “I need recovery time after social events.”

  • “Bright lights/sounds make it harder for me to focus.”
